We’re gearing up for a big celebration this fall. Starting with an Open House on Saturday and Sunday, Oct 3rd and 4th and moving on to three consecutive floorcloth workshops the following week, Canvasworks Studio will be buzzing with activity.

Sign HouseOn the weekend, all 3 studios will be open and a variety of classes and demonstrations will be scheduled. The first floor of the 1800s Vermont farmhouse will be open and  floorcloths, wall paintings, painted doors, chairs, and lots of other examples of Lisa’s work will be on display for viewing. The Gallery will be chock full of floorcloths for sale  as well as kits for do-it-yourselfers and ordering information for those looking to have a custom piece made.

Starting on Saturday, October 3rd and repeating on Sunday, October 4th, at 10:00 am, the first of 7 classes will be held- Paint a set of Coasters. This is a one hour class. Cost is $20.

At noon Lisa will give a FREE demonstration: Stencilling on Canvas

From  2:00 pm -3:00pm Theresa will teach the Kids Paint a Placemat Class. Cost is $20.

On Saturday night there will be a Wine and Cheese Reception. mairbw.jpg

Meet the artist, Lisa Curry Mair, and her assistant, Theresa Hooker. Learn about life in the studio and enjoy Vermont cheese and local cider and wine.

On Monday the floorcloth classes begins with Basic Beginner Floorcloth Painting.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the second class – Beyond Basics of Floorcloth Painting

and on Thursday and Friday we’ll have an Advanced Floorcloth Class, where we’ll go out and sketch the Weathersfield Inn or the Weathersfield Center Church and come back and make a floorcloth out of it.

Students in the coaster classes will receive a set of 4 canvas-on0cork coasters.  Students in the placemat class (parent MUST attend too) will receive a 12″ X 18″ canvas placemat. Students in the floorcloth classes will receive a 2′ X 3′ primed and hemmed floorcloth and paints and brushes. If you are doing more than one class, you can use the same floorcloth to continue working on, and you will recieve a 2′ X 3′ blank to take home for each additional class you sign up for. The Inn at Weathersfield (5 miles away) has graciously offered a 10% discount if you stay two or more nights. Book early and mention that you are planning to take a class at Canvasworks to get the discount.
