Sunflowers I posted an article on eHow about painting a porch floorcloth. Click this link to view it:

How to Paint a Beautiful Canvas Floorcloth for Your Porch

We are finding that as long as you use good quality exterior (enamel is best) latex paint, these will hold up pretty well on porches. If you hear a forecast for a monsoon of rain and wind which could blow a lot of water onto your floorcloth, I would recommend rolling it up so that it stays dry. Otherwise, occasional  dampness shouldn’t harm it. Depending on the type of poly you use, you might see a little cloudiness form when the floorcloth is wet. This should clear when it dries.

Remember to order your shrunk, primed and hemmed floorcloths here. For porches you’ll be glad you have the heavier weight canvas and the special all-weather primer we use.

Send me your pictures of completed projects!

Spreading the Word About Floorcloths

Do you have a floorcloth in your home? Have you made a floorcloth? Do you dream about making a floorcloth or having one in your dining room? Did your dog wreck your braided rug? Or did your friend’s husband spill red wine on your oriental? If you answered yes to any of these questions that’s probably why you’re here!

Dancing Bears Do you know some people who would be interested in floorcloths? The craft is relatively unknown and I’m trying to change that. Let’s spread the word and get everyone thinking “floorcloth”!

From now until the end of May you can help and have some fun too. Tell your friends, family, fellow crafters and decorators about Canvasworks and if they sign up here:

Sign up for Canvasworks News

I will email them and ask how they heard about Canvasworks. If they mention your name, you will be eligible to win a 4′ X 6′ Mariner’s Compass floorcloth! The person who spreads the word the most will be the winner and will choose the colors for their Mariner’s Compass. You’ll have the floorcloth by the end of June. It’s that easy!

Black and Gold Compass

Imagine this on your floor, in your choice of colors. That’s a $625 value!

Only new sign-ins count, and only one sign-in per household please.

Places you can go to see Canvasworks Floorcloths

showroom1.jpgWe have a new page on the website!

“Where to See Canvasworks Floorcloths” gives you a list of public places throughout the country where you can go see our floorcloths in use.

If you go, I’d love to hear your comments about the sites. Take pictures if they’ll let you (most of them will) and send them back here. Maybe I’ll post a whole new segment of people’s photos of my work!

Of course you can always come to the studio and gallery to see a complete collection of floorcloths and how we make them. Just call first so we can be sure to be here for you. We’re here Monday to Friday 9 to 4, but calling first will ensure that we’re not out enjoying the sunshine!

Last week I added a Facebook page for Canvasworks. I know not all of you are Facebook  people, but if you are, please sign in and become a fan of Canvasworks.  From May 15 to May 31st we’re going to have some fun. How many people do you know who might be interested in our floorcloths? Tell your Facebook friends about becoming a fan, or have your friends sign up for Canvasworks News on the Canvasworks home page., or just send me your friend’s email addresses (maybe you should ask them first if that’s OK). When I hear from them, I’ll ask them how they found Canvasworks and the person who generated the most sign ups will win a 4′ X 6′ Mariner’s Compass floorcloth in their choice of colors. That’s a $625 value!

Let the party begin!

Wrapping Up Rosedown

My traveling tool kit came home on the FedEx truck the other day, the paints are put away, the file is overflowing with paperwork, but put away. After such a huge project it’s hard to get back into the swing of things. While I was away Theresa continued on with other orders, so there’s lots of work to do. Now to get the momentum going again! To put a final “period” on the Rosedown project, a press release has been written and submitted all over the country.

Here’s a copy of the release:
