After a very difficult trip home from Mississippi (thanks, Dad, for rescuing me at the train station…) I took a little time to do some Christmas shopping and get caught up on what happened here at the studio while I was away. Theresa did a great job, as usual, taking phone calls, orders and answering questions. We have 8 floorcloths in progress, and just for a little something different, I thought I’d show you what’s on the table:
This one is ALMOST done. Just needs a couple of detail lines and then on to the poly stage:
The floorcloths are in! Everything worked out great- no run-a-muck cuts with the scissors or measuring errors. Phew! I’ll post a more detailed story about the whole trip (probably while I’m sitting in Charlotte, NC, waiting to be able to fly to Hartford, CT, sometime…), but for now take a peek at my favorite pic from the Plantation.
The great folks at Melrose have invited me to their staff Christmas Party tonight, so I’m off to celebrate!
I arrived here yesterday afternoon and was happy to see that my floorcloths had also completed the trip. They had shipped out in 4 separate pieces, along with my tool box. At 8 a.m. this morning I started work on the first floorcloth. The longest, most complicated one of the 4. The hall is 38 feet long and has many doorways, window bays and two floor registers to work around. Read the rest of this entry »
We have several floorcloths in stock and ready to ship. These are offered at special prices. Supplies are very limited, so don’t delay!
There are more floorcloths, framed paintings, painted placemats, table runners, canvas jewelry and more at the Gallery. Please come in and check it out!
The Natchez Democrat published a story about my floorcloths for the Melrose Plantation yesterday. Here is the text of the article:

“It’s like finding buried treasure,” she said.
And now, the 2-foot by 3-foot piece is in the hands of Canvasworks Floorcloths owner Lisa Mair.
The recreation job was contracted out to her through the National Park Service, and in September, she began the lengthy process.
“It’s an extremely long process because it’s such a big project,” Mair said. “The process is very tedious, there are a lot of steps and to do each step on 100 feet takes awhile. Read the rest of this entry »
