Fall is here, and I know there are a lot of people thinking about making gifts to give for Christmas. Several of you have asked for a Christmas Floorcloth Kit and I have 2 to offer you!
For the past three days I have been traveling, looking, taking photos and measurements and just generally being in a state of awe, admiring all the old plantation homes in this small area along the Mississippi. I have been commissioned By the National Parks Service to create four floorcloths for the Melrose Plantation in Natchez, so I went there to see the rooms, take measurements and see the original remnant which is safely stored on the site.
I drove up a long, winding drive, past a little lagoon and beyond the oak trees to the main house:
A customer requested a 7′ X 8′ floorcloth with the Artichokes and Berries with Checked center design and then added a twist:
She wanted frogs hidden among the leaves and vines so that her small children could have fun trying to find them around the edges.
So here’s one:
Did you find him?
Here he is up close…
These little customizing details are a lot of fun to do. Go ahead and stretch my boundaries!
OK, I’m going out on a limb here. There’s a cool contest being run by “Start Up Nation” for the best Home-Based Businesses. I figure I spend so much time right here at home, working away at all the aspects of this little floorcloth business, I might as well try my luck at a contest!

A great big thank you goes out to everyone!
